An animated Western having a chameleon because the hero is definitely an unlikely concept, but Rango is really a great film thanks to the witty mixture of parody, intriguing characters, and complex humor. When a standard pet chameleon who's struggling with an identity crisis crashes headfirst in to the stereotypically classic Western town of Dirt, he gets the unique possibility to completely reinvent himself. Dubbing himself Rango, the chameleon boasts of his very own heroism and results in a spiral of deception that lands him a scheduled appointment as sheriff of your town in crisis. The question is, is one able to unprepared and completely unqualified chameleon possibly change this little town's future for your better? And how do road kill, enlightenment, as well as the Spirit from the West estimate to the equation? The animation looks great with this film and kids will love the goofy characters and crazy scenarios. But adults will get the film intriguing on the whole different level because of the company's comic parody from the iconic classic and spaghetti Western genres and also the skilled balance of action, romance, and adventure. Kudos to director Gore Verbinski (Pirates with the Caribbean) along with the talented voice cast, most notable Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Ned Beatty, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, and Bill Nighy, to have an award-worthy film. Some kids ages 7 to 9 may obtain the film rather dark as well as the action a little too intense, but kids 10 and older needs to be fine so long as parents don't object on the PG rating (some rude humor, language, smoking, and action). --Tami Horiuchi
Get able to tango with Rango, successful with critics and audiences that’s “like nothing you’ve ever seen before” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). Johnny Depp is spectacular as Rango, a kooky pet chameleon who gets tossed in to a wild and raucous town in desperate need of your hero. Refreshingly original with eye-popping animation, Rango is “loads of fun and genuinely funny” (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times). And now you can get much more Rango on DVD including a never-before-seen ending, 10 deleted scenes, and far more.
